Holistic Nutrition at Helios

"Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food"
-Hippocrates

A Holistic Nutritionist's goal is to help you reach your optimal health potential and is trained in natural nutrition and complementary health to educate and assist you in reaching this goal. Holistic Nutrition focuses on high quality, whole, locally grown foods and sustainable farming practices.

Each person is biochemically unique with respect to genetic make-up, medical history, symptoms, family history, and food choices. Everyone reacts with their personal environment differently. Holistic Nutrition approaches the individual as a whole entity. It considers underlying nutritional deficiencies that may be manifesting in feelings of sub-optimal health. In doing so, holistic nutrition aims to determine the root cause of nutritional deficiencies. A whole foods-based diet and healthy lifestyle choices combined with daily exercise and supplements to prevent deficiencies are important aspects of optimal health. The human body has the innate ability to heal itself and holistic nutrition gives the body, mind and spirit the tools to achieve and maintain optimal health.

Helios welcomes Amanda Argue as their registered holistic nutritionist and is excited to add holistic nutrition to their powerhouse of rehabilitation and performance. When working with Amanda you will learn about health and wellness promotion, injury prevention and recovery through whole foods, and have a program designed for you that will outline possible nutrient deficiencies and which body systems need support and balancing. Amanda will also consider your lifestyle, exercise habits, eating habits, thought patterns, and beliefs in order to to assist you in implementing her recommendations to your diet and lifestyle. Environmental pollution, metal toxicity, microorganism imbalance and food sensitivities are also considered in constructing a personalized assessment and nutritional program. There are many things we cannot control in life but we can control what we eat and drink.

Registered Holistic Nutritionist

AmandaAmanda Argue, RHN
Amanda Argue grew up in Austin, Texas where she lived until she moved to Jasper in 2003. After finding happiness in the Canadian Rocky Mountains Amanda felt it was time to follow her passion and study at the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition in Calgary, Alberta where she received her diploma in natural nutrition and became a Registered Holistic Nutritionist.

Tons of snow, endless ranges of big mountainous terrain, warm summer weather, and amazing skiing and mountain biking and the dynamic community drew Amanda to Revelstoke, BC. Amanda has a passion for ski touring, mountain biking and climbing, and is pumped to step it up in the gnarly Revelstokian and surrounding areas. Amanda plans to have a large fruit and vegetable garden and grow many different varieties of vegetables and berries including superfruits like gogi berries.

As the result of two knee injuries, a broken ankle, and shoulder issues Amanda has developed a keen sense of body awareness and the need to maintain muscular strength to support these potential weak areas. With these experiences coupled with her passion for healthy food and a healthy lifestyle Amanda is set in her niche at Helios Rehabilitation and Performance.
